Woman Vanishes In Delaware River After Helping Rescue Struggling Girl
A woman disappeared beneath the Delaware River after helping rescue a girl who was struggling in the water at a Burlington County park on Monday, Aug. 24,, authorities said.
At 3:52 p.m., Officers responded to Amico Island Park at 81 Norman Ave. in Delran on a report of two potential drowning victims, Delran police said.
The woman, who was not identified, entered the river to try to rescue the girl and was able to push her toward shore, police said. Bystanders then pulled the girl safely from the water. During the rescue, the woman went underwater and did not resurface, police said.

Pierre Michel Formosa, 68, died on Monday, Aug. 17, after he and a traveling companion got stuck in mud near Queen of Sheba Mine Road, the National Park Service said in a news release on Friday, Aug. 21.

Zack Paleologos, a 24-year-old Jackson native, died on Thursday, Aug. 20. The cause of death was suicide, his sister, Isabella Paleologos, said on a GoFundMe set up following his passing.

Man Shot, Killed In Trenton: Police
A 29-year-old man was shot and killed in Trenton Sunday, Aug. 23, authorities said.
At 11:35 p.m., officers responded to 629 Whittaker Ave. and found the man with a gunshot wound, Trenton police said. The man, who was not identified by police, was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.
