Air Quality Alert Issued For 12 NJ Counties, Ozone May Reach Unhealthy Levels
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued for 12 New Jersey counties on Friday, June 5, as ozone pollution is expected to reach levels that may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, the National Weather Service reports.
The alert will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday in Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties.
Ground-level ozone may approach or exceed unhealthy standards in parts of North Jersey.

Man Assaulted, Threatened to Kill Woman: Cape May PD
A Cape May man was arrested and charged with assaulting a woman, authorities announced Wednesday, June 3.
On Wednesday, May 27, a woman reported to officers she had been assaulted by Aucelio Juarez-Ruiz multiple times between February and April 2026.
Following an investigation, Juarez-Ruiz was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats involving a threat to kill, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said.

A Hollywood family loss now has new details.
Kelly Lee Curtis, the older sister of Jamie Lee Curtis, died of natural causes after spending the week before her death in hospice care, according to multiple reports citing the Blaine County coroner’s office in Idaho.
Us Weekly reported Monday, June 1, that the coroner’s office said Curtis died at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30. E! News also reported the cause of death and hospice details.
Curtis was 69.
