A vehicle fire spread to a popular East Meadow bar early Saturday morning, July 18, shutting down Newbridge Road in both directions as firefighters and hazardous materials crews responded, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 6:25 a.m. in a parked vehicle outside The Tipsy Barrel, at 470 Newbridge Road near Amherst Street, according to Nassau County police. When officers from the First Precinct arrived, they found the unoccupied vehicle fully engulfed in flames, police said.

A convenience store employee was arrested after police executed a search warrant and found him with a felony amount of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia at a Long Island business on Thursday, July 16, police said.
The search warrant was carried out at approximately 3 p.m. at Infinite Convenience Store, 419A Great East Neck Road, West Babylon, following community complaints, police said. John Mensch, 55, was sentenced Wednesday, July 15 to 18 months in prison for the fraud, the Justice Department said.
